Ayodhya, Prayagraj & Varanasi – 7-day luxury temple circuit
This alternative 7-day journey focuses on the sacred river cities of Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Varanasi, offering a gentle, luxury-paced experience with curated temple visits, guided rituals and comfortable drives between each destination.
Day 1 – Arrive in Ayodhya – Soft landing on the Saryu
Arrive in Ayodhya and check into a carefully chosen boutique or luxury hotel. Late afternoon, take a gentle orientation walk around Ram Ki Paidi and the Saryu ghats. As dusk falls, experience the Saryu Aarti, followed by an unhurried vegetarian dinner and an early night to settle into the rhythm of the journey. (Local transfers within Ayodhya are short – usually 10–30 minutes between sites.)
Day 2 – Ayodhya temple circuit at a relaxed pace
After a leisurely breakfast, explore Ayodhya’s key temples with a private guide: Ram Janmabhoomi Temple (curated darshan, timed to avoid peak crowds where possible), Hanuman Garhi and Kanak Bhawan, along with atmospheric lanes and shrines associated with the Ramayana. Return to your hotel for downtime in the afternoon – time to rest, journal or simply enjoy the property. In the evening, you may return to the ghats or attend another aarti for a deeper, unhurried experience.
Day 3 – More Ayodhya temples & drive to Prayagraj
Ease into the day with visits to lesser-known yet evocative temples such as Nageshwarnath or other local shrines tailored to your interests. After a relaxed checkout, begin your journey to Prayagraj. Ayodhya → Prayagraj: approximately 180–200 km / 4–5 hours by road, depending on traffic and road conditions. Arrive in Prayagraj and check into a comfortable premium hotel. The evening is at leisure – perhaps a quiet walk nearby or simply time to unwind after the drive.
Day 4 – Prayagraj – Sangam & sacred sites, then to Varanasi
Enjoy a relaxed morning before heading to the Triveni Sangam for a private boat experience at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati, with the option of arranging a simple ritual or guided puja on the river. If time and energy allow, visit important local temples such as Bade Hanumanji Temple and Alopi Devi Temple (a revered Shaktipeeth). Later, continue by road to Varanasi. Prayagraj → Varanasi: approximately 120–130 km / 3–4 hours by road. Arrive in Varanasi and check into a luxury riverside haveli or boutique hotel. The evening is kept light at leisure.
Day 5 – Varanasi ghats, Kashi Vishwanath & temple experiences
At sunrise, head out for a private boat ride on the Ganges, watching the ghats come to life with prayer, bathing rituals and the soft light of early morning. After a late breakfast and a short rest, explore the old city lanes and key temples: Kashi Vishwanath Temple (with pre-arranged guiding and assistance where possible) and Kaal Bhairav Temple, one of the city’s powerful guardian shrines. Return to your hotel for spa time or relaxed downtime. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, experienced from a reserved viewing spot or from your own private boat. (Most transfers in Varanasi are 10–30 minutes; allow extra time for walking through the old lanes.)
Day 6 – Sarnath & temples around Varanasi
After a leisurely breakfast, drive out to Sarnath, where the Buddha delivered his first sermon. Explore at an easy pace – the main stupa and archaeological ruins, the museum (time permitting) and peaceful monasteries and gardens. Varanasi → Sarnath → Varanasi: approximately 10–12 km each way / 30–45 minutes each way, depending on traffic. Back in Varanasi, and depending on your interests and energy, visit temples such as Durga Temple (Durga Kund), Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple and the New Vishwanath Temple within the BHU campus. This evening enjoy a specially curated food walk exploring the local cuisines of Varanasi and shop the local Banarasi fabrics.
Day 7 – Gentle farewell & departure from Varanasi
Enjoy a slow final morning: one last cup of chai on the terrace, or a short unguided walk along the ghats for personal reflection. Transfer to Varanasi airport or the railway station for your onward journey. From central Varanasi to the airport: approximately 25–30 km / 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic.
