Beyond the guidebook
India’s neighbours unfold like a quiet revelation — high Himalayan kingdoms shaped by ritual and myth, island shores where Buddhist and Hindu legacies intertwine, and atolls where the ocean feels both otherworldly and oddly known. Travel here is less about ticking sights and more about tracing shared roots, kindred spiritual traditions, and landscapes that echo India while remaining entirely themselves. With the right hosts, these are journeys that linger long after you return home.

- Nepal – A full day in Kathmandu’s Durbar Square — temple hopping, local food, and a visit to the living goddess Kumari at the old royal palace.
- Bhutan – Stay at Six Senses Paro or Amankora — traditional farmhouse architecture, Bhutanese healing spa rituals, and mountain views from your private terrace
- Maldives – A private sandbank dinner — candlelit table on a deserted islet, personal butler, and nothing but ocean and stars surrounding you. Stay on a local island like Maafushi — excellent snorkelling, fresh seafood, and a real taste of Maldivian life at a fraction of resort prices.
- Sri Lanka – Spend a morning at a working tea estate in Nuwara Eliya — tour the factory, meet the pickers, and have high tea overlooking the plantation. Genuinely memorable and very easy to arrange.
